Limenet: the Italian start-up that turns carbon dioxide into calcium bicarbonate
Capturing the main responsible for climate change and the greenhouse effect is possible thanks to Limenet. The Lecco-based start-up will build a plant inAugusta, Sicily, there where large heavy industry settlements arise, that can remove about 4 thousand tons of carbon dioxide annually and transform it into calcium bicarbonates to be stored in the sea. Calcium bicarbonates, in fact, counteract water acidification, thus improving the marine ecosystem.
Of these 4 thousand tons, one thousand-which will be captured by Limenet by mid-2025-have already been purchased by KlimDao(a platform active in the voluntary carbon credit market), thus generating useful carbon credits for companies to offset their negative emissions.
