Forests
Correct maintenance and protection of forests and the planting of new trees promote 30% more absorption of CO₂ emissions.
The wooded area in Italy has increased in 10 years by approximately 587,000 hectares for a total of 11 million hectares. Forest biomass increased by 18.4%.
Similarly, the carbon dioxide absorbed by Italian forests has also increased by 290 million tonnes, a figure destined to grow if maintenance and conservation policies and interventions are implemented.
